So, here's a bit of an odd one. An unfinished game. That is being redeveloped. Or not. Possibly abandoned. Except when it is not.
There's a lot of potential here. But for now, the game's a rather load of poop.
You are a pirate. The aim, to become the most feared pirate of the land. And you do this by doing pirate things.
Plunder islands and other pirate ships. When you can.
The real issue of the game here is that it feels like there is a lot to do, but the interface and some design decisions The game feels so damn clunky and made with poor control decisions that achieving anything is a chore.
For the most part it is autonomous, you don't need a lot of micromanaging control. Alas the game still does not make this easy. Left Click controls the captain, right click controls a set of crewmen.
Sometimes you need to activate a row of buttons off the bottom of the screen. Even for things that should be automated based on where your characters are. It's just really unintuitive
There's a bunch of cool ideas here for a 2d/pixel Pirate game. The maps are large. There's a lot of ways to customise, level up, and train your crew. And plenty of random events.
But these also need balancing. Starting off the game, one of my crew immediately turned traitor as soon as we were in the ocean, cutting my amount of pirates to two. You can also very quickly run into overpowered enemies and just be destroyed if you fail the escape chance check.
Everything the game tries to do that should be fun it then ruins as fast as it can. Which is a real shame.
Apparently you can customise your ship. All I managed to do was capture a few and build up a stock of ladders. Where's my fleet? Why didn't I take all the other resources? Can you even do this in a non obvious way?
To be fair, my tolerance for what it was doing ran out fast.
You know. I really don't have much to say about this. There's good reason the Steam review ratings are sitting at Mostly Negative.
The pirate I had in my team who would kick off the poop died and I could find nobody else to do the same job. This game is my ship's deck.
Bugger it. Here's the final two screenshots of when I died.
Avoid.
